If you are reading this article, you are probably in the process of choosing a network marketing company, or wondering whether or not you chose the right company. If you already found a network marketing business that you are happy with, great job on making the right choice! You are on the right path towards enjoying the benefits of a network marketing, such as enjoying the residual income through owning your business, and continuing with your personal development as you are guided by your mentors. But if you’re wondering how to choose the right network marketing company, I recommend keeping the five points below in mind.

1) Executive Leadership – there are a large number of network marketing businesses in the market, and many often hype up to their prospects promising to be the next Amway, NuSkin, and MonaVie. Before joining, you should look at the background of the executive team and find out whether they have a solid track record of building up a successful MLM business. If they do have a solid track record, they have a better chance of succeeding with building a new company because they have strong experience under their belt. They already know what type of mistakes to avoid, and how to create and execute a successful blueprint in building up a business. If the company has been in existence for less than 3 years, having an executive leadership team with a solid track record is even more critical.

2) Field Leadership – strong mentorship and personal development are critical elements for your success. Over 95% of people quit during their first 3 months because they lack strong leadership. If you’re looking at companies, ask your sponsor about the training and relationship they have with their mentors, if any. And ask yourself if you believe that your sponsor is committed to your success in this industry? Good mentors would value that “You’re in the business for yourself, but not by yourself.”

3) Timing – is the company’s products found in the industry that’s growing, even during this recession? Examples of fast growing industries include health and wellness, education, and the Green sector.

4) Uniqueness of the Product – If your company is in a highly competitive industry, like health and wellness, does the product or products offer something quite unique and value added? Is the product in high demand, and will it remain in high demand for the years to come?

5) Compensation plan – Is the plan easy to understand and explain? Does it reward new associates who sponsor a couple of people, or do you have to sponsor a large number of people in order to make a decent income? I suggest asking for average annual incomes at different levels of the company to get a picture of what people are making. You might want to ask how long it will take to reach a desired income level.

Good luck, and keep these five factors in mind when you in the process of choosing a good network marketing company.

Heading into the New Year, I’m constantly thinking whether a success formula exists, and if so, are there any key variables that form that equation. My friend gave a wonderful gift for Christmas, which is a book called Three Feet from Gold by Sharon Lechter and Greg Reid. A century ago, Napoleon Hill began his research for his bestseller Think and Grow Rich, which contained principles of self-motivation, leadership, service and achievement. He derived these principles through countless interviews with successful people during his day. Three Feet from Gold is a story about a young entrepreneur who faced adversity when his life seemed to fall apart. However, he rose to the occasion by following the principles taught by Napoleon Hill and ended up becoming very successful.

It was a quick read, and I highly recommend reading the book. What I’d like to share is the most powerful message I got from the book, which is the success formula. The formula, along with its key variables, is simply

((P+T)) x A x A) + F = success.  That means combine your Passion with Talent. You then multiply it by the right Association, which includes successful people, along with Action, which include the concrete steps you can take toward your goal. Then you add Faith, which is the unwavering belief in yourself.

Here’s how you can apply the success formula, and I suggest writing them down in a journal:

Passion – Write down a list of ten things that you are passionate about. Consider things like, what do you enjoy doing and what are willing to do it for free?

Talent – Write down a list of ten things you are really good at. What are your key skills and strengths?

When looking at passion and talent, involve your family and friends who know you well, and ask them to remove one item that least describes you from each list. Repeat the process until you have one item remaining on each list. You should narrow it down until you have one remaining item on each list. By doing so, you would now know the Passion and Talent variables in the equation.

Association – these are the key people that are part of your life. As the saying goes, you are the average of the five people you surround yourself with. Think of the five people you surround yourself the most. Are they supportive of you? Do you feel you can learn from them? Ask yourself if they are role models of the type of people you want to become.

Action – Ask yourself every day whether or not you are moving in the right direction towards your goals. Re-evaluate your actions, and determine if you need to make adjustments whether you’re heading in the right path.

Now add Faith to the mix, and start moving towards your goal. There you go, I suggest you write your own success equation as you’re heading to the New Year. Remember, this is not an overnight formula to success. It takes time to build.

Merry Christmas to all of you! As a small gift, I’d like to share the principles of one of my favorite books of all time – “How to Win Friends & Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. If you haven’t read the book, please make sure to include it in your reading list for 2010. If you have read it, I suggest reading it again and applying the principles taught in the book.

Six Ways to Make People Like You

1) Become genuinely interested in other people

2) Smile

3) Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language

4) Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves

5) Talk in terms of the other person’s interests

6) Make the other person feel important – and do it sincerely

Win People to Your Way of Thinking

1) The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it

2) Show respect for the other person’s opinions. Never say, “You’re wrong.”

3) If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically

4) Begin in a friendly way

5) Get the other person saying “yes, yes” immediately

6) Let the other person do a great deal of talking

7) Let the other person feel tat the ideas is his or hers

8) Try honestly to see things from the other person’s point of view

9) Be sympathetic with the other person’s ideas and desires

10) Appeal to the nobler motives

11) Dramatize your ideas

12) Throw down a challenge

Be a Leader – A leader’s job often includes changing your people’s attitudes and behavior. Some suggestions to accomplish this:

1) Begin with praise and honest appreciation

2) Call attention to people’s mistakes indirectly

3) Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person

4) Ask questions instead of giving direct orders

5) Let the other person save face

6) Praise the slightest improvement and praise every improvement. Be “hearty in your approbation and lavish in your praise.”

7) Give the other person a fine reputation to live up to

8) Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct

9) Make the other person happy about doing the thing you suggest

Merry Christmas! If you really want to win friends and influence people, try as much as you can to apply these principles into your daily lives.  Reread the book and reflect on the clear examples of successful people who have incorporated these principles.

As many of us begin our adventures in network marketing with a limited budget, I’m sure we are thinking, “Where can I advertise my home business for free?”  This was a major thought going through my mind when I started my home business, especially since I had such a limited marketing budget.

My mentors recommended studying the works of people like Mike Dillard, who is an advocate on the law of attraction. I learned that instead of promoting my home business, I should focus instead on building up my personal brand and developing relationships with people by adding value and finding solutions to their problems. People do business with people, and if you want to attract them to your business, you need to first establish rapport and credibility with your prospects. So I had to change my thinking from “Where can I advertise my home business for free?” to thinking “Where can I brand myself for free?”

Here are two great places to start if you want to build up your personal brand, where you can attract people to you and eventually your business. I’ve included tips on how to best get started and make the most use of this.

Facebook – After creating your profile, I suggest joining groups where you think your prospects might be members. For example, if you are in the network marketing business, do a search on network marketing, and join one of the many groups that appear on your search.

Once you join, you can connect with members by sending a friend request. I suggest writing a brief message to them, saying something like “Hi (first name), we belong to the same group, and I’m interested in connecting with you to share ideas, exchange information, and see how I can help you.” However, do not, I repeat, do not pitch your business to people you are interested in connecting. When they accept your friend request, spend time getting to know that new friend by asking them about what they do, how their business is going, etc. Over time, you will understand their needs in greater detail, and eventually get to the point where you can offer a solution that your business provides.

Linked In – You can use a similar approach like Facebook. Join a few groups that are specific to your industry and market. Connect with people in the group by sending them a private message first using the example above. Add them to your network once you have their permission. Then ask your new connections how they are doing and find out if there are any problems or difficulties they are encountering in their business. Until you have established a relationship with that contact and fully understand their needs, do not pitch your business.

Also take a look at the group discussions and make comments on the article. If you like the article, feel free to connect with the author and establish a relationship from there.

There are also other ways to brand yourself for free online, but Facebook and Linked In are great places to start. Make connections with people, and find out what their needs truly are. People will be attracted to you, and you can eventually lead them to your business. But before you even start this, make sure to brainwash yourself with the notion of never pitching your business without getting to know your new contacts first.

I’ve been studying Attraction Marketing the past few weeks, and incorporating its principles into my business activities. People do business with other people, so it’s important to build trust and credibility with others before you even engage in some business relationship. I came across the below article on http://www.SolveYourProblem.com and thought I’d share with you. It gives a very good overview on the Law of Attraction, which everyone must understand if they want to succeed in the network marketing and/or online marketing business.

Enjoy the article!

What Is The Law Of Attraction?

Perhaps you’ve become aware of the popularity of the Law of Attraction. The big question is: how can you incorporate its principles into your daily existence?

To do this correctly, we must first understand what the Law of Attraction means and what its guiding principles are. Thankfully, they’re quite simple and easy to comprehend.

The Law of Attraction states that negative attracts negative and positive attracts positive. The universe can understand our subconscious minds, and it delivers things according to the way we’re thinking.

If we want the Law of Attraction to provide us with positive rewards, joy, and happiness, here are some simple strategies to follow:

1. Always give thanks. For us to live the Law of Attraction on a continuous basis, we must always give gratitude. What this means is that, no matter what we have up to this point in time, we must profess thanks for it.

If you sincerely practice this on a continuous basis, you’ll be rewarded with many positive things.

A good way to practice this on a daily basis is to give thanks each day upon rising and at night before going to bed. At these times of the day, our subconscious mind is most receptive.

Proclaiming gratitude keeps us humble and reminds us of all the good things in our lives.

2. Escape negative thoughts and feelings. More than likely your life is extremely hectic and stress-filled. It’s easy to become frustrated and negative about a lot of issues and situations. According to the principles of the Law of Attraction, we must redirect these feelings immediately. Remember that positive attracts positive, but we also must not forget that negative attracts negative.

Because of this, if we focus only on the negative, we’ll only attract negative things back into our existence. For example, if you’re in a long supermarket line, instead of thinking about how much you hate food shopping, think of your kids’ faces when you make their favorite meal.

There are many people in this world who live a positive existence; those are the

kind of people you must emulate.

3. Voice what you want. As per the Law of Attraction, if you request something, it will be brought to you. Do you want happy children, more money, love, and a well-paid job? All this can be yours, but you need to request this through your subconscious.

For instance, if you’d like love brought into your existence, you must truly picture yourself with love in your life. Imagine how happy you are, the smiles on your faces, and enjoying things together.

Just remember that you must request this sincerely. Only true positive energy will attract back more positive things. You can’t fake it!

The Law of Attraction proves to us that our subconscious is a powerful tool. It’s a tool that can provide us with everything our heart desires if we know how to use it correctly. Incorporate the principles of the Law of Attraction, and with an open heart, you can have a happy and fulfilling life.

As part of my ongoing commitment to personal development, I attended a seminar over the weekend where the speaker talked about the seven inherent growth steps every leader must take.

I have made a firm commitment to follow these steps as I develop as a leader within the network and online marketing industry. I’d like to share these seven growth steps of leadership with you, and ask if you are already incorporating these steps as a leader.

1) Connect your passion for success with a common moral good.  You must focus on connecting with other people, and create a vision that is rooted in win-win. If you focus on providing others what they need, success will eventually follow. Knowing that your product or service is a win for others creates a deeper and more legitimate passion for you to strive.

2) Become a student of your work and industry, not just a servant to it. This involves acquiring knowledge, developing ideas, and improving your skills.  With increased knowledge and skills, you are more valuable to others, which is a necessary trait of a leader.

3) Avoid extreme shifts in mood, focus, and determination when building your foundation. We must be careful not to let our emotions get the better of us. When faced at a low point or stressful situation, we must exercise calm and patience.

4) Learn to endure hardships and inconveniences with a positive spirit. Complaining about a situation will not encourage others to help you. Maintaining that positive spirit will rub off on other people, and they will be more inclined to help you get through the hardships.

5) Improve yourself more than you grow your business. Spend time on personal development, read books, listen to CDs and podcasts, and find successful mentors. If people are attracted to you because of what you achieved in personal development and the value you can offer, they will naturally follow you and eventually follow your business.

6) Foster interaction with others by renewing your faith in the inherent ability to rise to the occasion. Have the belief that people can succeed no matter what. The three keys you can do to motivate others are optimism, encouragement, and enthusiasm.

7) Understand that the greatest avenue of creating success in other is love. Always give more than you take and create a culture of generosity.

Good luck, and feel free to comment if you think there are additional steps I haven’t mentioned but worth noting for every leader.

When I entered the world of network and online marketing, my mentors taught me to always incorporate 4 fundamental activities into my weekly schedule.  Speaking from their successful experience, they emphasized that these four activities will help boost my network marketing productivity and performance. They said I should have absolutely no excuse not to do these 4 things.

1) Personal Development – Commit at least 30 minutes a day to reading books, listening to CDs or podcasts, and watching videos that relate to personal development. We’re constantly surrounded by negativity, so it is important to feed our mind with positive suggestions so that it sinks deep into our subconscious. I’ve recently read “Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill, and “How to Win Friends & Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. These are great books to help frame a positive mindset. My condolences go out to the family and friends of Jim Rohn, who recently passed away. I started to download some inspirational MP3s from his website, and plan on listening to his messages every morning over the next few weeks.

2) Exercise / Physical Fitness – Commit a minimum of at least 4 days a week. We work practically 24-7, and unless we’re super heroes, our body needs to be properly looked after. In addition to eating healthy, we must exercise to keep our bodies fit. I like the endorphin rush I get after exercising, and I immediately feel really good and excited to return back to work. Sometimes, I like to listen to motivational speeches on my iPod while lifting weights or running on the treadmill. This gives me a great power work out, and what a way to kill two birds with one stone – talk about being efficient! For those who exercise consistently, you all know the benefit of how good you feel and how much energy you have after a good work out. And if you’re going to be successful, you might as well look good in the process.

3) Telephone time – Commit anywhere from 30-90 minutes a day. We all live in the Internet age and find e-mail and social networking a convenient way to interacting with people, especially if you live in different places. If face to face meetings are impossible to arrange, the next best method to build relationships is through chatting on the phone. Skype or any other type of video conferencing works well too.

4) Family / Personal time – We must remember the reason why we are doing it in the first place. While we each have specific goals we would like to achieve, the main thing that drives us is the ability to achieve time-freedom. Let’s not forget about spending time with those who are important in our lives, or devote some fun time to yourself. You can easily do this on Sunday.  And you don’t want to burn out completely before you even reach your goal.

If you are not already doing so, try to incorporate the four activities into your weekly schedule. I’ll repost this again in a few weeks, and I’m interested to learn if this has made any type of positive impact on your productivity or results.

After exploring options on how I can generate additional income, I decided to join the world of network marketing. During my first training meeting a week ago, I was taught the traditional method of recruiting new sponsors like talking to my friends and family, and making a list of 100 warm contacts.  With my previous recruitment background, I’m quite comfortable with this method, but I knew that I would eventually run out of warm contacts.

I knew that online marketing was an effective method to expand my network beyond what traditional or old school methods could accomplish. I researched a few low cost lead generation programs, and I managed to find an effective one through a referral. Through this program, I learned the value of attraction marketing. You have to build relationships with network marketers and add value in any way you can, instead of trying to sell a program to them. I knew I would struggle at some point generating leads, so I decided to sign up for this lead generation program and receive training early on.

Within a few days, I learned so many ways on how to market myself, from content/article marketing, social media, blogging and video marketing. Although it was a low cost lead generation program, I found value right away as measured by my increased marketing knowledge. I probably would have spent a few thousand dollars at my local college if I enrolled in a similar program and gained the same amount of knowledge and skills. By implementing the techniques they described, I was able to generate close to 10 leads within a few days, and this is with no network marketing or online marketing experience. I know this number will grow exponentially over the next few weeks if I continue using the techniques.

I will continue using this program, and report on my progress to let you know how it goes. I’m lucky enough to have a good company with strong field leadership and mentorship. All I need to do is cast my net as wide as possible, build relationships with people, offer advice, and in time, after I have gained their trust, introduce them to my primary opportunity. The rest will take care of itself.

I know this low cost lead generation program will help me reach my goals, and put me ahead of the game. The best thing is that my mind is programmed to think “how can I add value to people”, or help in any way without expecting anything in return. Hope you can join me on this journey as I become more involved in network marketing.
